| | | | Travelstory - Altai Mountain in Mongolia
The sun is up and I'm ready to go! From the distance, I can see the snow-capped top of the Altai Mountain. It gonna be one tough journey to reach it peak but being the adventurer that I am, I'm willing to sweat it out. My journey has taken me and a handful of other companions to the different tribal locations on our way up the Altai Mountain. We walked past hot springs, the Khoton Lake, the Highest Past and the Shiveet Mountain. We've even met the ethnic groups of Kazak, Tuva and Torguud. They were really nice people and they even wished us luck on our quest. When we reached the Mongolia's longest glacier, we were held in awe. We were stunned by its mystique that we refused to move at once. However, when we reached the Malchin Peak, we were very nervous because it was such a difficult and long climb. I think it was the most challenging of all. One companion of mine even joked, Man, if we get through this, I'm gonna treat my horrible mother-in-law out for lunch. Of course, a series of laughter followed suit. Despite out jittery feelings, we went on only to be truly thankful for what laid in utter splendor below us. The Russian glamour was a sight to behold from up there. The ice cold breeze from the top of the Altai Mountain chilled me to the bones but the warmth of that feeling inside of me because of pride for surviving the tracks would forever stay. I hope you will have as much fun in the Altai Mountain, Mongolia as I've had. Remember, it's the journey; not the destination. |

| | | | "Batu Caves" MALAYSIA The ADVENTURE of the month! | What is a cave?
A scientist would mention about stalactites, stalagmites and even as complex as limestones. An innocent child would talk about bats and the dark. An adventurer would say "a perfect place for exploration." But the most intriguing of all is what a Hindu-Malaysian would answer: "A cave is sacred."
Indeed, the Batu Caves in Malaysia are the "Holy Land" of the Hindus living in the country. As a matter of fact, the caves are believed to be the seat of Shiva's son, Subramaniam. Even the annually-celebrated Thaipusam Festival is directed to the said cave. Would you like to see Hindus' bodies pierced so much with sticks protruding from every hole? Then, be sure to be there during the Thaipusam Festival!
To reach the mouth of one of the caves, you have to undergo through two tests. One is the strenght of endurance which will be measured by climbing up 272 steps. The other would be the test of patience. As yu reach the final step, dozens of long-tailed Macaque monkeys will greet you by crawling all over you in search of peanuts and bananas. Once you've succeeded through these tests, the Batu Caves are yours to explore.
Hindu or not, you'll surely enjoy the sceneries inside the cave. Imagine a dome of a hundred meters in height lighted only by sunlight through the holes on the ceiling!
What is a cave? I'd say it's mystery.
